Buffy Summers walked through Restfield Cemetery, a stake in hand and a look of boredom across her face. Giles had insisted that she patrol tonight before heading to the Bronze to meet the gang. There hadn’t been much vamp activity and for some odd reason, it made Giles go into research mode. She shook her head slightly, knowing that she will never understand him. A moment later, she stopped, tilted her head up and listened for a second. Her slayer senses picked up on a soft cry of a woman and she knew it was a vampire. She ran over to the mausoleum where the woman and vampire were behind, jumped up onto it and looked down for a moment.

The vampire was just about the sink his fangs into his second meal when he noticed something atop the mausoleum. He turned around and looked up, but still keeping a tight hold on the girl. As soon as he turned around, the bottom or a boot connected with his face. He stumbled back and let go of the girl. He steadied himself and looked down, seeing a small blond girl, the slayer and hissed “Slayer”.

Buffy cocked an eyebrow “What? You thought it was the tooth fairy?” After a good 10 minutes and a broken nail later, Buffy put her stake in her back pocket and looked around. Seeing the girl had left and there were no other vamps, she started toward the gates of the cemetery, mumbling “Well, I did my duty tonight, now I get to party”. Just then, her beeper went off, she stopped and pulled it out, holding it up to read the number. As soon as she saw the code, she knew it was her mom’s gallery. “I knew I would jinx that” she sighed, put it back and headed to the gallery.

Fifteen minutes later, she walked up to the front door and seeing it opened, went in and walked towards her mothers office, mumbling “This better be good”. She reached the door and softly knocked. After hearing her mother’s voice, she opened the door, spotting her mother and a man with his back to her.

Joyce looked up at Buffy and smiled. “Oh good, you’re here,” she said.

Just then the man turned around and looked at Buffy. His breath caught and he couldn’t help but stare. She was amazing, the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.

Switching her gaze from her mother and to the man, she almost couldn’t keep her mouth from dropping open. He was tall, dark and gorgeous. He looked around two4-two5 and she too, couldn’t help but stare.

After a few moments Joyce stood up and stood next to Buffy. “Buffy, this is Angel Liam, Angel, this is my daughter, Buffy. You’ll be working with here until you get the hang of everything”

Angel smiled and out stretched his hand “Nice to meet you”.

Buffy shook it and smiled back “You too”. They were both instantly attracted to each other, but Joyce hadn’t noticed it.

Joyce looked back at Buffy “Buffy, I couldn’t find the paperwork for the new shipment that came in earlier, I need to finish it tonight, have you seen it?” she asked.

“Yup,” she answered and walked over to a filling cabinet and looked through a few papers and finally pulled out a manila folder. After handing it to her mother and saying her goodbye, she walked out of the office and a large smile played across her face. She walked outside and towards the Bronze, thinking of her new, and hopefully single, co-worker.

Willow, Buffy and Cordy walked into their apartment around 11 o’clock that night. They had chosen to live together in a regular apartment so they wouldn’t have to stay in the university doom rooms anymore. Dorming at the university was the original plan, but after living with each of their roommates for a week, they couldn’t take it anymore. They had all gotten along very well and even Oz and Xander, the other two members of the Scooby gang, shared an apartment not to far away. They had all gone to school together and became best friends, even if it did take Cordy awhile to leave her ‘popular’ group.

As the walked in, Buffy went into her room with Willow and Cordy on her heels. Buffy turned around and came face to face with them, “What?” she asked, confused.

Cordy gave her a ‘you can’t keep hiding that secret from us’ kinda look. “We know there’s something up, you were in a really good mood after patrol and you looked like you hadda keep yourself from smiling for no reason….so spill already,” she told her, hands on her hips.

Buffy sighed and sat on her bed, trying to keep from smiling at the thought “I hadda go see my mom at the gallery before meeting you guys. She hired someone new and I have to train them.”

Cordy looked at her “Well, who is it?”

“Angel Liam” she answered simply

Willow gave her an odd look “Please tell me that’s a guy’s name.”

She chuckled “Yeah, it is,” she told her.

Cordy smirked “Buffy’s found a new eye candy…is he a hottie, ok looking….come on tell us!,” she exclaimed excitedly.

Buffy kept a serious look “I guess you could say he’s ok…” she paused briefly, fell onto her back and had a full blown, dreamy smile on her face and continued, “…if you were blind”

Cordy and Willow both grinned and sat on the bed, grilling her for details.

The next day, Buffy walked into her mother’s gallery, anxious to work with Angel. She walked into her mother’s office and saw angel sitting in one of the chairs in front of her desk.

Both Angel and Joyce looked up, hearing her walk in and Joyce looked at her “Good morning Buffy,” she greeted her with a smile.

“Hi mom,” she greeted her back.

Joyce and Angel both stood up and Joyce walked over to Buffy “You can start showing Angel the ropes and in sure by next week, he’ll be set,” she told her.

Buffy and Angel both nodded and walked out of her office and down the hall. Buffy was the first to speak up “So, do have you lived in Sunnydale long?”

Angel was glad she spoke up, because if she didn’t, he might have begun to stare at her again. “Not long, I moved here a few weeks ago from LA. What about you?”

“I moved here from LA too, but I’ve been stuck here for 4 years. Its not what many picture,” she informed him.

Angel chuckled “It seems quiet….like a Pleasentville kinda town”

Buffy laughed quietly, “Once you get the hang of it, it wont seem like much of a Pleasantville,” she told him with a smile.

They had both seemed very comfortable around each other and for both of them, that was sort of new. Buffy started showing angel around while they both talked.

Buffy had thought about what willow had said in regard to Angel’s name, that it wasn’t a normal guy name. “Is ‘Angel’ your full name or is it just a nickname?” she asked curiously.

He looked down at her “Yeah, just a nick name, my full name is Angelus, but everyone decided to call me Angel.”

“What do you like better?” she asked.

He though for a moment “I dunno, they are both ok, but sometimes I have problems when people only hear my nickname,” he informed her.

Buffy chuckled , “Well yeah, It’s pretty much a girlie name,” she teased him.

Angel laughed quietly and looked down at her again, “Well it’s just as normal as your name * Buffy*.” He stresses on her name, teasingly, which made her smile.

“Hey, it’s a nickname too, it’s short for Elizabeth, I didn’t pick it,” she defended herself.

“You don’t like it?” he asked.

She shook her head “Not really, but it’s grown on me,” she said truthfully.

He smiled, “I like it, and it suites you,” he told her and thought to himself ~~It’s a beautiful name, just like you~~. He had kept from saying it since he wasn’t sure if she was seeing anyone.

Buffy and Angel had continued teasing each other and talking the rest of the day. They had instantly clicked and they couldn’t stop thinking about each other.

After work, Angel drove home, and in a very good mood. Once he got to his apartment, he got out and walked upstairs to his apartment. He lived by himself, but it didn’t always seem like that when his friends looked at his apartment like a second home. He took out his keys and unlocked the door. He walked inside and saw three of his friends lounged in his living room, watching tv. He walked in and looked at them, while taking off his tie. “Don’t you guys have your own apartments?” he asked. He didn’t mind them being there though.

Doyle looked up at him “Well yeah, but we decided to pay you a visit and get the info on your new job”.

Gunn nodded “So are there any hunnies there or what?” he asked quickly.

Angel sat down and smiled at the thought of Buffy and quickly dropped the smile, when seeing his friends looking at him. “It’s nice, there’s a few younger people there.”

Spike looked at him, “What was that smile for peaches? Was there a girl there that you wanted to bed?” he said in a very ‘Spike-like’ manner.

Doyle, Gunn and Angel looked at him and Gunn smacked him over the head.

Doyle shook his head slightly, “Is sex all you think about?” he commented.

Spike looked at him, “Pretty much,” he said with a smirk.

Gunn looked back at Angel, “So is it a girl? Cuz you know we wont leave you alone about it,” he reminded him.

Angel sighed and sat back, “Yeah, there’s a girl,” he finally told them.

Doyle gave him a smug look, “Told ya you’d be dating in no time.”

“We aren’t dating, I barely know her,” he told them. He knew it felt as though he had known her forever, but he wasn’t lying.

Gunn arched a brow at his friend, “From what I can see, it looks like you’re head over heels for her….so what does she look like?” he asked curiously.

Angel thought for a second, picturing her, even though it didn’t take much to start thinking about her and started to smile. “She’s small, blond and amazingly beautiful,” he told them, trying not to sound to dreamy.

They all knew Angel showed his romantic side in front of them, mainly cuz they didn’t have one, and because he’s not like most guys, he was the romantic type of guy that they sometimes wished they were.

Doyle cocked an eyebrow “You got it bad for her, man,” he told him.

He sighed, wishing he had the courage to go up to her and ask her out.

Spike looked at him “Look you wanker… go find out if she’s taken and walk up to her and ask her out…it’s not that hard. If you don’t, I’ll do it and ask her out for myself,” he slightly yelled at his friend.

Angel glared at him slightly, thinking how sometimes Spike spoke his mind too much.

They talked and watched a movie until 10:30, when they finally left. Angel was lying in bed by 11, thinking about the little blond he couldn’t get out of his head. He fell asleep and he was anxious for what his dreams would be like that night.

Almost a week went by with Buffy and Angel working together and it was going great. They enjoyed seeing and working with each other and with each day, they began to fall for each other even more. On Friday afternoon, Buffy and Angel were both busy at work. She was trying to find a good spot to put the new piece of artwork that had just arrived and Angel was doing some paperwork. Needless to say, either one of them were getting much work done since they would constantly watch each other when the other one wasn’t looking.

Buffy had just found a good spot for the piece and climbed up onto the ladder.

Another co-worker handed her the piece from below and his phone rang. When he went to answer it, Buffy realized that she was just about an inch or two to short. “I hate being short….now all those years of mom saying coffee will stunt your growth really turned out to be true” she mumbled. She stood up on the last step, reaching over a little and finally got the painting onto the wall.

Unfortunately, a delivery man, carrying a large crate holding a very expensive statue, walked passed her, bumping into the ladder, just enough for Buffy to lose her balance.

She gasped and then only seconds after her feet left the step of the ladder, she felt two strong arms wrapped around her. She looked up and saw the man who saved her from her fall. It was in fact, who she had hoped it would be, Angel.

He gave her a lopsided grin “Didn’t your mother ever teach you to not climb up to the top step of the ladder?” he asked.

After seeing his smile, she knew if she was standing, her knees would have gone weak. She smiled and answered, “Maybe, but I’ve got a thing about not listening to my mother”.

He chuckled a little “Are you ok?” he asked.

“Yeah, thanks…ya know, for catching me,” she told him.

He smirked again “No problem”.

Neither of them had realized that Angel made no attempt to let her down and she made no attempt to move. They had begun starring at each other and they both leaned in slightly, about to kiss each other. A second later, they both heard a man’s voice from around the corner.

They both pulled back and Angel let Buffy down. ~~I’m going to kill whoever that is~~ she thought and glanced around the corner.

After seeing who it was, she quietly groaned, which Angel hadn’t missed.

He looked at her questioningly “What is it?” he asked.

She sighed and looked up at him, “This guy from school, he’s a TA in my pysch class and he won’t leave me alone. He’s like my stalker.,” she told him.

Angel could clearly tell by the look of ‘help’ she had given him, that she needed an escape from the upcoming situation and quickly tried to think of something. He tried not to smile to him self, having an idea. He grabbed Buffy’s hand, pulling her to the other side of the room, gently pushing her back against the wall, putting his hand on the wall next to her head, so his arm would be covering her face. He bent his head down, and smirked, whispering to her “Don’t move your head.”

She tried not to laugh, knowing what he was thinking and whispered back, “This plan of yours better work.,” she warned him.

He knew from the side, they looked as if they were caught up in a kiss.

Riley rounded the corner and saw what seemed to be Buffy kissing another and yet older man. It both upset him and angered him. He thought to himself ~~who does that guy think he is kissing her?~~. He walked up to them, just as Angel stood up strait and let down his arm.

They both looked at Riley, just when one of the other employees walked over and looked at Angel.

“Angel, you have a phone call,” she informed him.

He looked at her “Thanks Kelly,” he looked back at Buffy and gave her and ‘good luck’ look.

She smiled slightly and watched him walk the other way. She looked back at Riley and tried to act nice, “Hi Riley,” she said not really wanting to talk to him.

“Hey Buffy, I wanted to talk to you,” he began.

She knew what he’d want to talk about, because he always asked.

“I wanted to see if you wanted to go with me to the frat party later tonight,” he told her.

She sighed and answered “Riley, we’ve gone over this, I’m sorry, but I’m not interested,” she was getting annoyed with him.

“Well are you going any way?” he asked.

“Yeah, I think so,” she told him.

“What…are you bringing that guy?” He asked. Riley’s bitter side began to show through.

With out thinking, and finding it an easy escape, she answered “Yeah, maybe I am”. She would have loved for that to be true, but she knew it would never happen. After a minute or two, she walked around the corner and came face to face with Angel, who had an amused smile on his face. She cocked an eyebrow “Eavesdropping?” she asked.

He dropped the smile and gave her an innocent look. “Me…eavesdropping? Never,” he told her innocently.

She looked at him and chuckled, “Yeah right”.

They both walked into the lounge and sat down.

She looked at him, “Thanks for saving me…the second time…back there…I may have been forced to just hit him to get him to go away,” she said truthfully.

He chuckled, “Well, I’m glad I could help,” he told her.

“Well, I’m not sure whether or not the lie I told him will be my way out of dealing with him, or cause more questions for him to ask me.”

Angel thought for a second ~~this is your chance, it’s the perfect way to ask her out~~. He took a deep, but silent breath, found his courage and looked at her again, “Well, it doesn’t have to be a complete lie.”

She couldn’t believe it. Was he asking her out? She knew that she had wanted it more then anything. She knew the dangers of dating someone and slaying, but every part of her screamed not to listen to logic and go with her heart.

It was 5:30 and Buffy had just gotten home, she was so excited for her date with Angel. She took off her coat and threw it on the couch and heard someone from the couch “What do I look like a coat rack…and even worse, a coat rack that doesn’t get a ‘hello’?” She walked up behind the couch and looked down, seeing Xander lounging there. She giggled “Hi Xander,” seeing him sit up and noticing that the others were here too. “Hey guys,” She greeted them happily.

Cordy gave her an odd look “What are you so happy about? coz normally seeing Angel everyday doesn’t give you that much of a happy,” she asked curiously.

She grinned at her friend, “Well, I have a date…and that gives me an uber happy.”

Willow grinned as well, “See I told ya it would happen…congrats Buff,” she said, happy for her.

Xander stood up, acting like a father figure “Whoa…whoa…wait a minute. Whose this Angel lad and what is he planning on doing with our little Buffy?”

Cordy, Willow, Oz and Buffy chuckled and Cordy pushed him back down. “He’s this guy at work that Buffy has been crushin over for the past week,” she told him.

Xander looked at Oz, “Did you know about this?” he asked.

Oz nodded ,”Yeah, Willow told me.”

Xander’s mouth dropped slightly, “What? You all have forgotten about me? I’m now the last to know about this stuff…I resent this….you will all regret it when you want caffeine-y goodness at the next research party…I will no longer be your snack boy!”

Both Cordy and Willow smacked him with a pillow.

Buffy smirked and walked into the bathroom and quickly showered.

About 15 minutes later, she was in her room, wearing a robe and a towel wrapped around her head. Clothes were thrown every where and she still couldn’t find the ‘perfect outfit’. She stopped looking and walked to the door when she heard someone knock. She opened it to find Cordy and Willow.

Cordy looked around and back at her “Trouble finding an outfit?” she asked.

“Yes, it’s driving me crazy,” She pouted.

Cordy and Willow walked in and started helping her to find something great.

Almost two and half hours later, Buffy was still doing her hair when she heard someone at the door. She gasped, looking at the time and then realized that the others will be grilling Angel long enough for her to finish.

Cordy got up and walked over to the door, opening it and just barely keeping her posture. She was jealous of Buffy for a moment when she looked at him. He was wearing black leather pants and a dark read shirt. She smiled at him and stepped aside to let him in. “Hi, I’m Cordy, one of Buff’s roommates…you must be Angel”.

He smiled back, “Yeah, I am, hi,” he said to her.

She led him into the living room, where the others were waiting. They had all exchanged hellos and sat down.

Xander decided to start grilling him for information, Buffy was more of a sister to him. “So, Angel, where are you guys going, Buff didn’t give much details,” he asked.

Angel looked at him “A frat party at the university….it’s also a way to get some guy off her back,” he told him.

Willow chuckled “That would be Riley…she mentioned what happened earlier.”

Angel smiled slightly at them, sensing some grilling coming up.

After about 15 minutes of Oz, Willow, Cordy and Xander were grilling him, and he suddenly heard Buffy’s voice behind him.

“….and I thought fathers were supposed to be vicious with the grilling” she joked.

Angel turned around, stood up and looked at her, not being able to speak for a minute. She was wearing a short black dress, with spaghetti straps and a scooped neck with black knee high boots. Her hair was half up and curled slightly, with stands framing her face. He couldn’t believe how amazing she looked. He finally found his voice and smiled at her “You look beautiful”.

She smiled back at him “Thanks”. After saying their good-byes to her friends, they walked out side, into his car and headed for the party.

****5****

After a short car ride, Buffy and Angel arrived at the frat house. Being the gentleman that he is, Angel got out and walked over to Buffy’s side and opened her door for her.

She smiled to him and got out. They walked hand in hand up to the house and inside.

Angel looked around at all the people “Crowded” he commented.

Buffy glanced around at the house filled with people, “Crowded may not be the right word to use.”

He smirked at her “It’s been awhile since I’ve been to one of these,” he told her truthfully.

Buffy chuckled, “That’s because they start past your bed time old man” she teased.

He gave her a playful glare “I’ll get you back for that Summers”.

She smirked and answered “Sure you will.”

They walked into the living room and Angel had yet to notice that Gunn was there and talking to some of his friends. Between Spike, Angel, Doyle and Gunn, they knew a lot of people at the university, since they were seniors.

Gunn noticed the couple and walked over to them, “Hey man, is this Buffy?” he asked, hopefully. This girl was beautiful.

“Hey” he answered and smiled down at Buffy “Yeah it is….Buffy, this is my friend Gunn,” he introduced them.

Buffy smiled at him, “Hi .”

He returned the smile, “Hey”. He leaned over and whispered to Angel, “Oh man Angel, she is a total hottie…if you wanna give her up for a while, I can entertain her…,” he said and raised his eyebrows slightly.

Angel chuckled a little and whispered back “I’m not giving her anything.”

A few minutes later, they had followed Gunn over to where his and Angel’s friends were, and Buffy even noticed some of her new friends. They were sitting and talking about different stuff, which Buffy had been perched happily on Angel’s lap because the lack of couch space, but it was far from a complaint to both of them.

Just as a slow song came on, which people began dancing to, Riley walked over and looked down at Buffy, deciding to try his luck again, “Hi Buffy,” he started.

She sighed quietly and looked up at him, “Hi Riley,” she answered half heatedly.

“I was wondering if you would wanna dance,” he asked hopefully.

Angel mumbled under his breath “What a moron”; knowing Riley may never get the picture that Buffy wasn’t interested.

That caused Buffy to smirk and then she quickly dropped it when looking at Riley again, “No thanks Riley, I’m….” she tried to think quickly of an excuse, when once again,

Angel came to her rescue. “….going to dance with me” he finished for her.

She heard it and grinned at him “Yeah I am”.

They stood up and Angel gently took her hand and led her to where everyone else was dancing. He wrapped his arms around her waist and she slid her arms around his neck. She fit perfectly against him and she couldn’t help but smile.

She looked up at Angel, “You always seem to be saving me from things…maybe I should keep you around for awhile,” she said with a smile.

The thought of that made him smile broadly, “Maybe you should,” he answered.

She smiled and rested her head against his shoulder while they swayed to the music.

After the party, Buffy and Angel walked to the park, that was only minutes away. They were holding hands and talking. Usually, Buffy would be against walking somewhere in the middle of the night, for fear of a vampire attack but she decided to try her luck tonight and relax.

She glanced up at the sky, “This is nice,” she commented.

Angel looked down at her and smiled, “Yeah it is, but its always nice being with you,” he told her truthfully.

That caused her to grin and him to smile back, not noticing her blushing slightly. He watched her from the corner of his eye, trying to hide a smile every time her watched her. He was loving this, and little did he know, she was thinking the exact same thing. On their way to the entrance of the park, Angel stopped and let go of her hand, something catching his eye. He looked down at her “Stay here” he told her.

She nodded and leaned her back against the tree that was behind her. She watched him disappear into the shadows and wondered what he was up to.

Moments later, Angel walked back to her and stood in front of her, holding something behind his back.

She looked up at him, “What are you hiding?” she asked curiously.

He smirked and replied, “Nothing”.

She glared playfully at him “Liar.” She reached around him to grab it but he moved in time to miss her hand. She tried again, but this time, he pulled out what he was hiding, a perfect red rose and held it in front of her, smirking.

“I remembered that someone’s house was on the side of the park and they had a rose garden,” he told her with a smile.

She grinned and took it from him, “That could be considered robbery,” she teased.

He chuckled “Are you gonna turn me in?” he asked playfully, leaning in a little.

She smirked “I think I’ll wait for you to surrender” she began to lean in.

He bent down the rest of the way and captured her lips in a sweet, tender kiss, while putting a hand on her cheek.

She kissed him back happily, putting one hand on the side of his neck. Their other hands were interlocked and they were completely caught up in the kiss. They couldn’t believe the feeling they got when their lips met, and neither of them wanted it to end. They always got a tingly feeling when they touched each other. They had also gotten the same feeling when the other one was walking toward them, even if they couldn’t see it. They both knew they were in love.

Almost a week after their first date, Buffy and Angel had been inseparable, which wasn’t hard for Joyce to see. Buffy hadn’t told her about the fact that she and Angel were dating. She had nothing to hide; she just didn’t know how her mom would react. She knew that she liked him and well….who wouldn’t like Angel. He was everything a mother would want her daughter’s boyfriend to be.

Buffy had been sitting at one of the computers, thinking about all this. She was supposed to be trying to find what places were selling one off the Indian statue collections her mother had wanted to buy for the galley, but she ended up just doodling on the pad of paper and thinking. She decided she needed some caffeine and went into the lounge and got a cup of coffee and continued thinking in there. She wasn’t sure how to tell her, remembering what he mother as like to all her other boyfriends. Although, it wasn’t like Angel was some guy that Joyce thought was too immature and a bad influence. In fact, he was completely the opposite. ~~Why is something so simple, becoming so difficult~~ she thought to herself. Just then, she was pulled from her thoughts when she felt someone’s hands on her shoulders, a kiss on the cheek and then they whispered “Penny?” . She smiled, knowing who it was and tilted her head up “Hi” she greeted him and kisses him quickly.

Angel happily returned the smile and the kiss, “Hey…you seemed deep in thought” he said while moving next to her and sitting on the table.

She nodded slightly “Was it that obvious?” she asked.

He chuckled a little, “Pretty much,” he told her.

She smiled and leaned back in the chair, “So what were you thinking about?” he asked curiously.

She looked up at him, “My mom…and what she did when she met my other boyfriends.”

Angel looked down at her and arched a brow ,”Does that mean I may not be alive when she finds out I stole her daughter?” he asked with a smirk.

Buffy smiled, “Maybe…I was trying to figure out what she would say….or do.”

“Well, don’t worry about it, its not like she doesn’t know me, and besides, who could resist my charm?” he asked with a grin.

She grinned back and answered, “I’m not sure who could either.” She stood up and put her mug on the counter while angel watched her.

“So, was the lounge a better place to think of are you just hiding out?” he asked curiously.

She leaned against the counter across from him, “Actually, I went to get some caffeine and I started thinking again,” she told him.

Angel looked at her and shook his head slightly, “You and your coffee….,” he said.

She stuck her tongue out at him, knowing that she’s got a thing coffee, “You drink it too” she defended herself.

Angel got off the table and stood up “Well yeah…but I don’t drink as much and I can hold my caffeine,” he teased.

“I can hold my caffeine better than you,” she continued, knowing that was a big lie.

Angel walked up in front of her, looking down, “No you can’t, you came in yesterday after classes with a bottle of jolt and if you weren’t here, you would have been bouncing off the walls.”

Buffy looked up at him, “Are you complaining about the good mood I was in as well?” she teased.

He smiled innocently, leaned down, his lips brushing against hers, “I’d never complain about you.” He wrapped his hands around her waist and kissed her deeply. He had wanted to do this since she came in and he decided there was no time like the present to take advantage of the aloneness.

She was more then happy to return the kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck, deepening it slightly.

Moments later, they were to caught up in the kiss to realize the door had opened and Joyce had walked in, followed by another woman. Joyce and the other woman stood their shocked for a few moments. Once Joyce snapped out of her daze, she cleared her throat and Buffy and Angel slowly pulled away, turning to see who it was.

Once they saw who was standing there, the instantly jumped apart and all that could come out was… “Mom…”.

“I have to say,” Mrs. Liam started, “When Mrs. Summers showed me where she had seen you last, and I didn’t think you’d be busy kissing a girl,” she had finished with a small, amused smile, seeing the look they had both had when they walked in on them.

Angel was next to speak up, “Mom…what are you doing here?” he asked, confused.

She looked at him “I came to look for a new painting for the house and figured you could help me,” she told him.

“Oh…um...well…I can show you them now” he answered, slightly nervous. He looked at Buffy, giving her a ‘I’ll be back’ kind of look, walked over to his mother, leading her out of the lounge.

Buffy sighed and looked at her mother.

Joyce motioned for her to sit and she did. She sat next to her, “So its safe to say that you two are going out?” she asked.

Buffy nodded slightly, “Yeah, ” she answered nervously.

Joyce and Buffy talked for close to 10 minutes and Buffy walked out of the lounge with a smile. Her mother had accepted the fact that she and Angel were dating, and how she felt for him. Surprisingly, she was actually glad that she was dating Angel, because she liked him and knew he could be trusted. She also mentioned that Buffy had been a lot happier the past week then she had seen her in awhile. She walked back to Angel’s desk and waited for him to finish up with his mom.

After waiting for about 10 minutes, Angel walked back to his desk and in front of Buffy. “How’d it go?” the both asked at the same time.

Buffy waited a moment and then started, “She was actually cool about it and the fact that she already likes you already, was a plus.”

He smiled “That’s always good to know,” he kissed her quickly.

She kissed him back quickly, ”How about you?” she asked.

Angel waited for a moment and then answered, “She wants you to come for dinner this weekend.”

Buffy had been standing in front of the mirror for 15 minutes, fidgeting with her hair. She was nervous about meeting Angel’s family and she hoped that everything went smoothly tonight. She was supposed to help with the research party in the Magic Shop on a new demon she fought on patrol the night before. The only problem with the demon was that after she had decapitated him, he bent down and put his head back on and then grinned at her. It was creepy, she had to admit, be slaying was her life, so she got used to it. When she gave Giles an excuse that ‘she had to help her mom at the gallery tonight’ he told her that it was fine, but just as she was walking out the door, Anya opened her big mouth. She made a comment about Angel and refereed to him as her boyfriend and Giles didn’t miss a beat. Giles pulled her back in and sat her down, going over the million reasons why a slayer can’t have a boyfriend. She had to admit, she listened to maybe two sentences and then drifted into an ‘anywhere but here’, about her tall, dark and gorgeous hunni that she couldn’t wait to see. ~~After all the years I’ve been daydreaming during Giles’ speeches, you’d think he’d notice when I’m not paying attention~~, she thought to herself. All of his talking was making her late and she realized her hair wouldn’t corporate with her tonight and finally pulled it into a french twist with stands framing her face. Five minutes later, she grabbed her leather jacket and walked out to her car, driving to Angel’s parents house.

Angel was just as nervous as Buffy was. Dozens of thoughts ran through his head and they weren’t helping to calm his nerves. He was sitting on the couch, listing to his older brother and younger sister argue.

Mr. Liam walked out of the dining room and looked at them, “Will you two stop arguing?”

They both quieted and looked at him; “Sorry,” they apologized.

He then looked at Angel, seeing his uneasiness “Don’t look so nervous, we won’t do anything to drive her away,” he promised.

A few minutes later, the doorbell rang, causing angel to jump from his seat and walk to the door, trying to keep from running. He opened the door to reveal a smiling Buffy. He looked at her and smiled back “Hi ,” he greeted her and stepped aside to let her in.

“Hey,” she responded.

He bent down and kissed her softly, all of his nervousness drifting away. After the short kiss, he took her jacket from her, hanging it up and looking at her.

She was wearing burgundy skirt and a white top with black high-healed sandals.

He kisses her quickly, “Do you always look this pretty?” he complimented, which made her smile.

She kissed him quickly for the compliment and he took her hand, leading her into the living room. Everyone was in there and they had turned their attention to the couple.

Angel looked at them and back to Buffy, “Buffy, these are my parents, my brother David and my sister Amanda,” he told her and then looked back at his family and continued, “And this is Buffy.”

She smiled to them and responded, “Hi .”

Mr. Liam was the first to speak, “ It’s nice to finally meet you Buffy,” he said with a smile.

After dinner, they had all stayed at the table and Buffy was wondering if she was going to get grilled much more or not, since there was barely any of it during dinner.

Just as the thought crossed her mind, Mrs. Liam looked over at her, “So Buffy, have you lived in Sunnydale your whole life?” she asked.

~~Yup, I definitely jinxed that…well, hopefully I wont have to lie to them….to much~~, she thought. “No, I lived in LA till the end of my freshman year and then I moved to Sunnydale with my mom,” she told her.

“How come you moved?” she continued.

“After my parents got divorced, my mom found a gallery here so she figured it would be a nice, small town to live in,” she explained.

Mr. Liam had begun to like his son’s girlfriend and he knew how much Angel felt for her, even if he hadn’t known her that long. “Are you going to major in art, since you’re working in your mother’s gallery?” he asked.

She shook her head a little “I only work there to get paid, I’m not an art-y person, It’s too much about history and that’s a subject I don’t get it,” she explained truthfully.

He chuckled slightly “Well you’ve got someone very good at those two subjects, to help you out.”

Buffy smiled “Yeah, I do,” she answered.

Mrs. Liam thought for a moment “You know, Angel didn’t tell us, but how did you two meet? Through the gallery?” she asked.

Buffy remembered the night they had met and trying to keep from smiling, “Yeah, my mom told me to stop by the gallery before I went out with my friends, and Angel was there. I was supposed to be showing him the ropes for a few days” she told them.

David looked at them with a smirked at Angel “After your date I’m sure there wasn’t much ‘work’ going on from what mom told us.”

They both chuckled and blushed slightly, remembering when both their mothers walked in on them making out.

The rest of the night had gone very well and Angel’s family loved Buffy. They couldn’t be happier with Angel’s choice in a girlfriend. Buffy had liked his family a lot and she was happy that there were no disasters throughout the night.

Angel and Buffy stood outside his parent’s house, saying their good-byes. Angel had his arms wrapped around her waist and her one hand was on the back of his neck and the other was on his shoulder. The beginning of their goodbye turned into a make out session.

Amanda opened the door to take the trash out and looked at them “Dear god, can’t you two get enough of each other? It’s not like you haven’t made out at all tonight…I saw you guys playing tonsil hockey in the hallway before dinner.”

They pulled apart after hearing her and chuckled, seeing her father pulling her back a little and shutting the door to give them privacy.

They looked back at each other and smiled. Buffy looked up at him “Tonight went well…I don’t think I was expecting it to,” she told him.

Angel nodded in agreement, “Yeah, neither did I.” He leaned down and kissed her quickly “I’ll see you Monday.”

She kissed him back quickly and smiled, “Ok…bye.”

They untangled themselves from each other and Angel smiled back “Bye”. He watched Buffy walk to her car and drive off. He walked back inside thinking to himself, ~~only 3 more days till I get to see her again….~~.

Buffy had been thinking about the amount of time it was until she saw him again, when suddenly, her mind went on overload with thoughts, especially… ~~now I have to figure out how to tell him I’m the Slayer~~. From the time the first thought went through her head, till she fell asleep, her brain couldn’t stop thinking and worrying about that subject. What was she going to do?

****8****

It had been almost 3 months since Buffy and Angel had first started dating. Things were going perfectly and they loved it. When they didn’t see each other, they were thinking about one another. Nothing could go wrong. ~~Ok that’s a giant lie!~~ Buffy thought to herself. She had been thinking all day about her and Angel’s relationship, and with every thought, she felt more horrible. For about a week, Buffy had become incredibly busy with school and slaying. She had barely been to work and she almost never saw Angel. To tell the truth, she had been slacking in school, missing classes and trying hard to keep up with the work. The reason for all this was the one thing that never went away….SLAYING! The Hellmouth was throwing demons and other evil things, at her, left and right. There had been plenty of training and research parties. Pretty much every time Angel went to see Buffy, she wasn’t home or she was busy. He had begun to worry about her. He wasn’t sure if he had done something or if something was wrong with her. She had always told him everything, well all except for slaying, and every time he thought about it, he began to brood. Joyce couldn’t tell him the real reason she was so busy, although she wished she could. Buffy couldn’t stand lying to him anymore. Lying to him was what was killing her. He never kept secrets from her and she was lying about her life. Slaying is who she is, it is a part of her and she wanted to tell Angel that….but there were so many fears she had if she did.

Buffy was training with Giles in the Magic Shop and Giles noticed her mind was elsewhere. He stopped and looked at her, “Buffy, is there something wrong?” he asked.

She sighed quietly, “No,” which was a lie. “...and don’t forget that I have off tonight,” she reminded him.

Giles nodded “Yes I remember,” he looked at her for a moment, “Are you sure you don’t want to talk about anything?” he asked.

She slowly sank down into the couch, “Its Angel,” she began.

“What about him?” he asked curiously.

She sat back, “I hate lying to him about me being the slayer. Because I have to lie about that, I have to lie about everything else and it’s not fair to him, but I’m afraid if I tell him, he might get hurt or completely hate me.”

Giles noticed the anger and the sadness mixed into her voice and he sat down beside her, “Buffy, you know the dangers of a slayer being in a relationship, and I’m about to go against everything I’ve tried to get through to you and everything I was taught” he began. “I can see how much he cares about you and I know that he could never hate you. The others have gone through so much with you and they are still here, if I remember correctly, they were the ones who wanted to help in the first place. If he loves you, which he may not have said it yet, but it is quite obvious, he’ll accept this part of you, without changing how he feels.”

Giles’ small speech had surprised her, but gave her hope, “Thanks Giles... that made me feel a lot better,” she told him. She leaned over and hugged him, he had always given good advice and he was like a father to her.

He returned the hug “You’re welcome, Buffy.”

The rest of the day, Buffy spent it on thinking of way to tell Angel. She had decided that he had the right to know and his response would show her if he really loved her, even though she never doubted it.

Later that night, Buffy and Angel were walking through the graveyard, taking a short cut to the park, which Buffy immediately opposed to the idea but he had told her that it was a short walk.

He figured she was scared of graveyards, but what she was really afraid of, was that she’d have some unscheduled slaying. They had just gone to dinner and Buffy’s mind had been elsewhere. Angel had noticed it he was going to ask her about what had been going on the past week.

Buffy was having similar thoughts; she didn’t know whether or not to tell him now.

~~He knows you’re thinking and he’s gonna ask what’s wrong sooner or later and you wanna tell him because you want to, not cuz he asked~~, she thought, but her other half argued,

~~but you don’t wanna do it here…you in the middle of the vamp route to dinner…what are you even doing out here for that exact reason you moron?~~

~~good point….where should I tell him?~~

~~ well the apartment is outta the question…his place…that’s a good place~~

~~ok…I can do this~~, she argued with herself. She finally stopped and looked up at him.

He felt her stop and looked down at her, noticing her nervousness and wondered what was wrong “What is it?” he asked curiously.

She took a deep breath and began “I have to tell you something….”

He nodded “Ok…what is it?” he asked gently, knowing whatever it wasn’t easy for her to say.

She glanced around quickly and then looked back at him, “This isn’t the best place for it.”

That had concerned him more, knowing it had to be something big if she didn’t want to tell him here, “Ok…we can go back to my apartment, it’s pretty close.”

She nodded in response “Ok”. They began walking again when Buffy suddenly stopped dead in her tracks, tensing immediately.

Angel could feel her tense and he looked at her with worry “What’s wrong?”He asked.

Her eyes darted though the shadows. Her slayer sense had kicked in, warning her that there was company. She could feel that it wasn’t just one vamp, but something bigger, maybe a demon or a few more vamps. She wasn’t going to run, even though it would be safer for Angel if she did so she decided on a different approach. She looked up at him with pleading eyes; “If I tell you to do something, you have to trust me on it.”

He was confused and concerned, but some part of him told himself to trust her about whatever it was and to do what she said, “I will….what is it?” he asked.

She grabbed his arm, pulling him into the nearby crypt and into the shadows, “Stay here, no matter what…don’t do anything, just wait till I come back,” she begged.

He didn’t understand her but nodded “Ok”.

She moved away and disappeared into the shadows in seconds.

Angel had been watching from the doorway, but he couldn’t be seen. All of a sudden, he saw a giant blue demon stride past a few tombstones and almost right in front of the crypt. Three vampires were following him and they were in full game face. He didn’t know what they were but he was instantly worried about Buffy.

With lighting speed, he saw someone jump from the crypt, across from the one he was in, tackling the demon to the ground. They rolled to the ground and he saw the demon lad on top of whoever it was. The one on the bottom lifted the demon up slightly; putting her foot on his stomach and pushing with her lag, making the demon fly into a nearby tree. Who ever it was, flipped up, holding something and began sending a series of kicks and punches to two of the vamps. They had moved into the light and Angel’s breath caught quickly. He was watching his girlfriend, clutching a wooden stake and fighting with the two vamps.

He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. His whole body screamed to help her, but then his mind told him to stay and do what Buffy told him. He watched her stake one vamp and get lifted up by the demon and thrown into the crypt.

She quickly got up and went back to the fight. She had seemed so determined and it looked as though it was something she did every day.

He heard her remarks aimed at the demon and his vampire cronies and he winced every time she got hurt. Now it was just she and the demon and she was clutching a dagger that she had pulled from one of her boots, and not her stake. Her strength and skill amazed him.

Suddenly, the demon lashed out his right arm and slashed his claws against Buffy’s stomach. She made a sound from the pain and Angel had to hold onto the wall to keep himself from running to her side. She had fallen to the ground and dropped her knife.

The demon was about to go in for the kill when Buffy reached to the side, grabbing it and cutting off the demon's head. It fell to the side and Buffy dropped her head to the ground, trying to catch her breath. After a moment she stood up, slipping him dagger back into her boot and walked over to Angel.

He saw her walk over and got to her first. Fear and concerned shown all through his features. It wasn’t fear from the evil he had just seen, but for his injured girlfriend. He took one of her hands and placing his other on her cheek, looking down at her “Buffy are you ok?” was his first question.

For some reason that surprised her, she was sure he’d ask ‘what just happened..or.. what was that?’, but he was more concerned on her well being. She finally spoke up “Yeah, I’m fine, its not that bad, stuff like that happens all the time.”

His look of worry still didn’t drop and he led her towards his apartment to get bandaged up.

She was still surprised that he chose to worry about her before worrying about her big secret. This comforted her more and gave her more courage for when she would explain it all to him, which was when she was finished fixing her wound.

Angel took out his keys, unlocked the door to his apartment and walked in. He took her hand and led her in while turning on the light switch. He put his keys down and shut the door behind her.

Buffy had been here plenty of times before, which the last time was last week, after her and Cordy, went shopping. She had her hand covering her wound, which was bleeding a good bit. Angel had given her his leather jacket right after the fight, and it was hanging over her shoulders.

He gently slid his jacket off her shoulders and lightly put his arm across her back, leading her into the kitchen. He was trying to hide his worry about her since they had started walking back, but Buffy still saw it. He turned on the lights and stopped her in font of the table and carefully lifted her onto it. He looked down at her and kissed her forehead lightly “I’ll be right back,” he told her.

She kept herself from wincing from the slight pain that caused and then smiled slightly from his kiss and nodded to him, watching him walk into the other room. Tonight, she had seen his ‘worried and protective’ side that every boyfriend should have. Most of the times that she got hurt, it hadn’t been a big deal, because she had been so used to it. On the other hand, a few little scratches from a demon had put Angel into ‘worry mode’. She had to admit it wasn’t that small but the way he worried about her, which gave her a warm tingly feeling.

Angel walked back out into the kitchen, carrying a few things for her wound. He pulled a chair in front of her and sat down. He carefully removed her hand from the side of her stomach and pushed her shirt up slightly to see the wound. He wasn’t sure if lifting her shirt up had bothered her at all and he glanced out the corner of his eye to see her face. She had held up the bottom of her shirt for him and she hadn’t minded. He tried not to cause her pain when he pressed the small towel against the wound, but saw her wince.

He looked up at her, “Sorry,” he apologized.

She looked down at him, “Its ok”. She watched him take off the towel a few moments later and carefully look at the wound. He looked up at her again, “Buffy, it looks kinda deep, I don’t think you would need stitches, but maybe you should go to a…,” he began but Buffy cut him off, “No…no hospitals,” she quickly told him. He sighed and nodded and went back to cleaning it.

He had just finished wrapping the gauze around her stomach and then stood up, looking down at her. “You’re all done, but you should be careful when you move around,” he told her.

She leaned her head up and kissed him quickly in thanks, “Thank you”.

He kissed her back quickly and smiled “No problem.” He lifted her up carefully, set her down and handed her two aspirins for the pain before cleaning up the table. Buffy had watched him and thought about how gentle he was with her. He apologized every time she winced and she had to smile from that. She was so lucky to have him.

He noticed it had begun to rain and walked back into the kitchen. He knew Willow and Cordy were staying at Xander and Oz’s for the night and he knew she would be alone “You can stay her tonight and I can take you home tomorrow,” he told her.

She knew he didn’t want her to stay at home tonight, alone, after just being injured and she had to admit, she liked his suggestion. “Ok,” she agreed, “Besides, Giles would pull a total wig if I stayed home tonight…he plays the father figure very well.” She also knew she had to call him to tell him what happened.

Angel smiled slightly, “You left your stuff here from the mall last week, so I’m sure you have another wardrobe in all those bags,” he told her, but teased her at the same time. That got a playful glare from her and that made him smile again.

“I’ll get you back for that,” she joked. She walked into his bedroom a few minutes later, looking through her bags. She found a new pair of sweatpants and a tank top that she bought and carefully changed. She looked at herself in the mirror, looking a little like she was in a fight, but knew that would heal by morning. She pulled her hair up and glanced around his room, only being in here once before. She walked out into the living room and saw him closing the window from the rain.

He turned around and looked at her, “You even look pretty before you go to sleep,” he complimented her.

She smiled at him, “In the morning, it’s an entirely different story. It’s pretty scary,” she told him.

He smirked and handed her the cordless phone, “I heard you mumble something about calling Giles.”

She took it “Thanks, and yeah, he wanted me to check in at the end of the night,” she told him.

He nodded and kissed her cheek while walking into the other room to give her some privacy. She dialed the number to Giles’ house and waited for him to pick up.

Giles heard the phone ring, puts his book down and picked up the phone, “Hello,” he answered.

She leaned against the wall, “Hey Giles,” she responded.

“Oh, hello Buffy, how did everything go with Angel?”

“It…went…well, I can’t really explain it,” she told him.

Giles thought for a moment, “Well, what happened?”

She thought about the way it started and then began, “Well, we were walking through the cemetery as a short cut, which, I know, wasn’t a good idea. I told him I had to tell him something and we started to walk back to his apartment and then my spider sense started tingling. There was a demon and 3 vamps and I knew that if I didn’t kill it tonight, I might have to deal with it this week. I told him to stay in one of the crypts and he watched me and the 4 baddies throw down. But, the demon had a big set of claws on his and got me in the side.”

“Are you all right Buffy, are you at Angel’s?” he asked, concerned for his slayer.

“Yeah, I’m fine, it wasn’t that bad and he told me I should see a doctor but, I refused to. But anyway, he was too worried about me to ask about what happened in the cemetery. I’m gonna tell him when I get finished with you.”

He nodded to himself “I’m glad that you are all right and I’m sure he’s most curious about what went on.”

“Yeah, I’m sure he is, but I guess this is just another duty that comes with my ‘sacred birth rite’,” she said, mocking his usual lectures.

He chuckled slightly, “Yes well, I’m sure you’re the first slayer who’s had to explain it to a boyfriend,” he told her.

“Good…I always like being the first slayer to do something that’s totally against the Council’s rules,” she told him.

“Well yes, you often do that. You should start explaining this all to him and get some rest.”

“Right, I’ll see ya later Giles, goodnight.”

“Goodnight Buffy.”

She walked into the kitchen and put the phone back on it’s cradle. She turned around and walked back into the living room, seeing Angel walk up to her. “I called Giles, and I’m sure that your pretty curious about….everything.”

He nodded “Yeah, but you don’t have to explain it tonight if you don’t want to”

“No, I wanna.” He nodded and led her to the couch, helping her sit down so it wouldn’t cause pain and sat next to her. She looked into his eyes, still slightly nervous and began; “Ok…um…I guess I should start at the beginning. When you asked me why I moved to Sunnydale from LA, it wasn’t just because my parents divorced and my mom found a job. I was expelled from Hemery, my old high school….for burning down the gym.” She saw slight shock but he stayed quiet to let her talk. “When I was 15, this guy Merrick, he came up to me one day after cheerleading practice and told me that I had to go with him, which I thought that he was just some crazy guy. Then he had told me that I was the Chosen One, and that he was my watcher. I was really confused, but then he took me to this cemetery and I slayed my first vampire. I know…you must be thinking that vampires aren’t real, but they are. I’m the slayer, and to quote Giles, the one girl in all the world, with the strength and skill to hunt the vampires, and to pretty much, be this big protector of the world. When one slayer dies, another one is called and trained. Giles, who was my watcher after Merrick died and I moved to Sunnydale, told me that most slayers are trained from birth, and I pretty much, was an accident. But I never did anything the other slayers did and the council hates me for that. I knew a slayer who was like the poster girl for slayers, Kendra, but she died. After I died, she was called and then we fought together. The Master, this big famous vamp, bit me and then threw me into a pool of water and I drowned. Xander found me a few minutes later and revived me, but it was long enough for another slayer to be called. Kendra was killed by a vampire Drusilla, and her murder was blamed on me. Luckily, I got off the hook and then Faith was called.” She saw his eyes widen and fear cross quickly across his face when she mentioned her death. She explained to him about the Hellmouth, graduation, her past horrible birthdays and the more memorable baddies in her past and about everything else.

He was so interested in all that she was telling him and he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

“I didn’t tell you because I’m not supposed to tell anyone, I couldn’t even tell my mom until I was pretty much forced to. I was afraid that you would get hurt or that…well there’s a million other things that I was afraid of. But I wanted you to know about it, because you are pretty much entitled to the truth and because it was killing me that I hadda lie to you about everything. Slaying is pretty much who I am and it won’t go away.,” she finished a long while after.

He stared at her for a moment, “Wow,” was all he could think to say. He saw her uneasy and very nervous look.

“So, do you hate me now for lying to you and getting you into this?” she asked worriedly and looked down, as if she was ashamed.

He was shocked that she had thought that. He knew the look on her face meant that she thought he was going to leave her because of all of this. He lifted her chin up with his hand and took her hand in his, looking down at her, “Buffy, I would never hate you, and I don’t think it would be possible for me to ever hate you. I’m not mad that you lied about all of this and I’m grateful that you told me. I get that it’s not the safest and most normal life, but it’s yours, and that doesn’t mean I don’t wanna be apart of it. I know that it was hard for you to tell me, and I don’t want you to be afraid to tell me anything. No matter what it is, it doesn’t change the way I feel about you.” He stopped for a moment, deciding to tell her what he’s been wanting to for awhile and bent his head down towards her slightly. “I love you and nothing can change that.”

A large grin played across her face. That last line made her feel like there were butterflies in her stomach and her heart soar. She couldn’t believe he told her that he loved her but she wasted no time in replying, “I love you too.” It was his turn to grin; he bent his head down a little more and captured her lips in a passionate kiss.

A little bit later, Buffy hadn’t been tired and she and Angel were lying on his bed, watching a movie. There were the occasional smoochies and points where they just stared at each other, but it was nothing to complain about. When the movie ended, the couple was cuddled up and fast asleep.

The next morning, Angel slowly woke up and glanced down at the sleeping beauty next to him. He was lying on his back, his arms wrapped around her and she was against him, on her side, with her head lying upon his chest. Her arm was lightly draped across his stomach and she looked like she was having a good dream. He picked up the remote, turning off the tv that had been left on. He watched her sleep and watched the slight facial movements of what her dream had caused and he loved every moment of it.

She slowly woke up, feeling Angel’s arms wrapped around her and she felt so safe in his arms. It was like if she was with him, he could protect her from anything. She noticed that he was watching her, tilted her head up and looked up at him, “Hi ”.

He smiled at her, “Hi ”. He tilted his head a little and kissed her good morning.

She smiled back and returned the kiss, “Always a good thing to get when you first wake up,” meaning a kiss from him.

He nodded “Yeah, I think so too.” He looked at her for a moment and smirked “….liar,” he stated

She looked at him oddly, “Huh?”

He smirked again; “You told me that you didn’t look pretty in the morning”

She chuckled slightly, “I didn’t lie, I’m tellin ya, mornings are horrible.”

He kissed her quickly, “I think you always look beautiful.”

She smiled and kissed him back quickly, “I like waking up like this.”

He smiled back; “So do I…but having you around is always good”

She smiled again and glanced out the window, seeing it still raining, “I like the rain…especially thunderstorms,” she stated and looked back at him.

He looked down at her; “I didn’t know that.”

Buffy smirked slightly, “Well now you do…”

He smiled at the thought of it, “I like the rain too, but lightning always used to scare me when I was little,” he told her.

She smiled and looked up at him “Do I get to find out any more tidbits about you today?”

He smirked “You can find out what ever want to find out”.

They talked for awhile throughout the morning, just enjoying each other’s company. Buffy hadn’t even thought about her injury and she wasn’t in pain. She usually didn’t sleep well, but last night, was one of the best night sleep she had gotten in awhile. Angel’ had slept very comfortably he knew it was because of Buffy. They never wanted to leave each other’s arms, wishing they could stay like this forever. They both thought of how lucky they were to have each other and how much they loved each other.

****10****

Buffy and Angel were wrapped up in each other’s arms, watching a movie in the bedroom. She had spent last night and the rest of the day with him, staying in his apartment. There wasn’t much to do then, because of the rain; Joyce had called Buffy earlier, asking her to stop by tonight. Ever since the 1st night Buffy had slept over Angel’s, they had done it often. Cordy and Faith always teased her that she wasn’t just ‘sleeping’ over Angel’s. They knew that they weren’t sleeping with each other, but then every time they said it, it reminded Buffy how much it was getting harder for them to stop kissing each other, or to say goodbye. She thought about it sometimes, and decided, that when it was right, she’d know.

Angel’s back was against the headboard; he had his arms around her waist and his head against hers. She was curled up against him with her hands on top on his arms. Angel bent his head down a little, kissing her neck softly.

He whispered in her ear “You never did tell me what you wanted for your birthday.”

She was surprised by that, not knowing he knew her birthday was tomorrow. She smiled slightly, tilted her head to the side and looked at him, “I didn’t think you remembered,” she stated.

He kissed her quickly, “I could never forget anything about you…. especially your birthday,” he told her.

She smiled, forgetting for the time being, about her past birthdays, and what a disaster they were.

He looked at her again “So what do you want?” he asked curiously.

She thought for a moment, looking up at him, “Surprise me”. She knew those two words equaled disaster, but she knew that anything from him, would be far from a disaster.

He smiled at her, “Ok…I will”. He bent down and kisses her softly.

She returned the kiss, thinking ~~I love how he can make me forget about all the bad things so easily~~.

Later that night, Buffy and Angel walked up the porch steps to Buffy’s mom’s house. She opened the door quietly, hearing Cordy mumble, loud enough for her slayer senses to hear “Shut up….its not like she can’t sense us here”. She chuckled quietly, turning on the lights and sees everyone jump out, shouting ‘surprise’. She looked at Cordy, “Well, I don’t think I would have sensed it that quickly, but I know that your loud mouth gave it away.”

Cordy rolled her eyes slightly at her friend.

Xander looked at Cordy, throwing a plastic cup at her head, “Good job Ice Queen…I swear, if you had someone else’s mouth, you might not act like such a blond.”

Cordy and Xander continued their pointless arguing, while Buffy and Angel walked into the living room. ~~So far, so good~~, Buffy thought to herself.

Everyone was sitting and talking, after having pizza and cake.

Xander on the other hand, was wolfing down his second piece and then a thought hit him, “Hey…we are forgetting the most important part of our little shindig….presents!”

The others chuckled and then each grabbed their gifts for Buffy.

Cordy handed hers to Buffy first, “This is from me….like I always say…you never have enough,” she told her with a smile.

Buffy took the box, unwrapped and opened it, seeing clothes. She smiled to Cordy, “Thanks Cor…but I’m sure I’ll see you in my closet more often now.” She saw her smile innocently and shook her head slightly.

Gunn handed Buffy a large, strangely shaped box, “This is from me and blondie,” he told her. She took it, seeing Spike glare at him, looks down and then back at Gunn, “If its another arm in a box, I wont be a happy slayer,” she joked.

He chuckled, “Nah, that’ll be for Christmas,” he said and smirked.

She chuckled, unwrapped and opened it, pulling out a wooden crossbow.

Angel looked at it and then Spike and Gunn; “You got her a weapon!? Shes dangerous enough with one,” he exclaimed.

Spike looked at her “Don’t pay any attention to that wanker, we wanted to be the ones to get you the weapon…and um…feel free to use it on his highness any time you’d like,” he told her, meaning Angel.

Angel smacked him over the side of the head, “I swear, I sometimes feel like your father,” he stated.

Oz looked at him, “Oh man, I know what that’s like, but with Xander….and I have to live with him,” he told him.

Both Xander and Spike glared at them and Buffy just chuckled.

She looked at Gunn and Spike again, “Thanks guys”

They both smiled “You’re welcome,” they said at the same time.

Twenty minutes later, Buffy finished opening all her gifts. Willow had given her a new leather jacket and Oz gave her a few CDs. Doyle gave her a gift certificate, Giles gave her money and Dawn gave her a new purse. Giles had given her money and her mom had already given her that earlier. Faith, to Gunn and Spike's dismay, got Buffy a new dagger. The two guys argued that it wasn’t fair but their complains just got them a paper ball thrown at then, courtesy of Buffy.

She looked around, seeing the lack of Xander, and then all of a sudden, sees him pushing something large under a white sheet.

He stopped and looked at her, “This is from me and Anya….well, mainly me but Anya paid for it…I just put it together. Anyway…..Ok…I’ll be Vanna White”; he said with a goofy grin and stood on the side of it. He motioned to it, like a model would show off a car and then takes off the sheet, showing a large wooden chest. He opened it and then modeled the inside, “And now we have your larger weapon storage, and even little compartments for your stakes, daggers and the usual vamp slayage material.

They all chuckled from his modeling and then Buffy got up and walked over to him.

“I love it Xand, thank you”; she told him and hugged him.

“I’m glad you like it Buffster….happy birthday,” he said while hugging her back.

The rest of the night went by with no problems and Buffy was glad for that. She could only hope tomorrow would play in her favor.

Angel had walked into his apartment at 11:00 the next morning. He had just gotten back from buying Buffy’s birthday gift. He looked around, not seeing Buffy and walked down the hall, and into the bedroom. He leaned against the doorframe, seeing his love still peacefully asleep, just like he had left her only an hour ago. He smiled to himself, thinking of how cute she looks when she sleeps. He usually woke up before her and he would watch her sleep for hours, but never getting tired of it. He walked over to the bed, sitting down on it next to her. He kissed her lips lightly and then whispered in her ear “Happy birthday, love.”

She smiled slightly in her sleep and then slowly opened her eyes. After considering what he said, she realized that it really was her birthday and grabbed the covers, pulling them over her head and burrowing herself under them.

Angel watched her and chuckled, “Buffy…I’m not letting you stay here all day,” he told her. He heard a muffled “I’m commander and chief for today and that means I’ll do what ever I want to get away from the truth”. He smirked to himself; “Well I relinquished your position, so you have to do what I say.”

She answered him, “Bite me…you can’t do that.”

“Oh yeah?” he asked with an arched brow.

“Yeah, ” she answered. ‘

He lifted up the sheets, crawling under them and on top of her and began tickling her.

She started to laugh, “Hey, no fair”

“Gonna surrender and get outta bed?” he asked while tickling her.

“Never!,” she said while laughing.

“Ok then…” he began but stopped tickling her, wrapping his arms around her, leaned down and kissed her softly.

She immediately responded, putting one of her hands through his hair, while kissing him.

It was very hard to pull away from her, but he did. “You can’t hide from your birthday,” he told her.

“Yes I can, it’s very easy and I intend on doing it, believe me, the Hellmouth will probably open today.”

He leaned down closer to her again and kissed her quickly, “Stop” kiss “Being” kiss “Such” kiss “A” kiss “Pessimist,” he told her, giving her another quick, but lingering kiss, “That’s my job,” he ended with a smirk.

She smiled and then argued, “That doesn’t mean nothings going to happen,” she told him.

“Yes it does….just trust me,” he told her. He noticed her getting comfortable again, as if she was going to go back to sleep. “Oh, no you don’t…,” he warned. He crawled out of bed and picked her up, pulling her out of the bed as well.

“Angel! ….You’re so mean…why can I just stay here….its comfortable and safe,” she whined slightly.

He set her down on the floor and kissed her quickly, “I can live with that…now get ready, I know you want to spend at least a half hour putting on lipstick’, he commented.

She glared at him playfully, “Is that a complaint?”

“Of course not…I was just complimenting you,” he said with an innocent smile. He walked out of the bedroom and into the living room, knowing if he stayed in there any longer, she’d question him about what he had planed for today and he wanted it to be a surprise.

The couple walked into Sunnydale Mall, hand in hand and Buffy had been confused ever since they arrived. She finally looked up at him, “How come we’re here?” she asked.

He looked down at her, “You mumbled something the other day about having ‘nothing to wear’, which, I know is far from the truth, so I figured you can buy what ever you want as part of your gift,” he told her.

She looked at him oddly, “Is this the same guy who said shopping with me was like Chinese torture, when I hadda get shoes the last time we were here?”

He smirked, “I’ll be good this time”.

She leaned up and kissed him quickly, “You’re the best”.

He grinned and kissed her back quickly, “I’m glad you think so”.

Angel had given her his credit card, reminding her that maxing him out wasn’t an option and he decided to wait outside the stores for her. From store to store, he carried her bags like a gentleman and then they went out for lunch.

After going back to his apartment, putting her stuff down and changing, Buffy and Angel had walked down the beach and put their stuff down. A few minutes later, Angel took off his muscle shirt, just wearing his black swim shorts.

Buffy had seen him without a shirt before but it never got old…especially after he gets out of the shower…… She snapped out of her thoughts and broke the stare before Angel noticed. She took off her shorts and tank top, now only wearing a lavender string bikini.

This time, it was Angel’s turn to stare. He had to keep his composure after seeing her in so little. He snapped out of his trance and realized if he was starring at his own girlfriend, plenty of strangers would too. He noticed a few college guys, who had been playing volleyball, having their eyes glued on his beloved. He walked up a little closer to her, wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her deeply.

Buffy knew what the kiss was for, it was to show everyone else that she was his and she almost laughed at his protectiveness. When they broke apart, she smirked and whispered, “Jealous much?”

Angel looked down at her “No I’m not”

“Yes you are,” she started

“No I’m not,” he defended himself.

“Yes you are and you know it,” she told him.

He smirked playfully, “Yeah, well what if I am?”

“I’d say I was right,” she told him with a smirk.

Before she knew it, Angel picked her up, moving quickly down to the water. “Angel….you are so going to regret this…lemme go!,” she told him, smacking his upper arm.

He got to the water and stopped, “Ok,” he grinned evilly and threw her in. He heard an “Ah!” and watched her go under, while chuckling. The water was waist high and when Angel hadn’t seen Buffy surface, which worried him. He dove under, looking around under water and couldn’t see anything. He popped back up, looking around again, nervously. All of a sudden, someone wrapped their arms around his waist and, leaned up and whispered in his ear, “Looking for someone?”

He jumped slightly and turned around in her arms, seeing her smirk, “That wasn’t funny.”

“Yes it was,” she told him.

“No it wasn’t, you scared me”

“Well yeah, that was the point,” she started.

He looked down at her, “Don’t do that, I don’t like the idea of something happening to you, cuz if it did, I don’t know what I’d do,” he said.

“Ok, I won’t do it,” she leaned up and kissed him softly.

He kissed her back, wrapping his arms around her waist.

Once they pulled away, Angel had looked down at Buffy again, “Ya know, its hard to date you when so many people are after you….especially when you’re wearing that,” he told her.

She laughed and then glanced at two of the same boys, who were looking at her earlier, “Well I guess they like my choice in fashion.”

He looked at her bikini again and then her, “That’s not fashion, fashion involves material and that is obviously lacking a lot of it,” he said in a protective way.

She smirked at him, “Well you’re the one who bought it and it was your choice to stay outside the store,” she reminded him.

“I knew you’d some how use that against me…you’re so evil,” he said playfully.

She turned her head away in mock anger, “Well…if I’m evil…maybe I should go see those guys over there…,” she said playfully.

He looked at them and back at her “You’re not allowed to,” he stated.

“And why is that?” she asked.

He kissed her neck a few times and whispered, “Because you’re completely mine and no one else can have you.”

She turned her head back to him and smiled, “So if I stay here, do I get anything?”

He smiled, “Yeah, you do….,” he bent down and kissed her deeply.

They stayed at the beach for awhile, enjoying everything and each other. They played in the water, relaxed on the beach, but what ever they did, it had always resulted in them making out. Buffy had yet to mention anything about a bad birthday. Angel had sworn that he’d do everything he could to make this birthday one she wouldn’t hate. He knew what he past ones were like and he wanted to make her birthday a day she would look forward to every year, and not dread it.

Later that day, Buffy and Angel had gone back to the apartment to change and Angel had taken Buffy out for dinner. So far, today was going perfect and she knew how hard Angel was trying to make it that way. They were both walking down the hall to Angel’s apartment, just getting back from dinner and they heard a couple arguing. They walked to the door, listening to the fight since they first got there and trying desperately to hold in their laughter. Angel unlocked his door, opening it for Buffy to walk in first. She walked in, and he shut the door and locked it behind him. As soon as they were inside, they burst out laughing, not being able to hold it anymore. The fight had been so strange and for some reason, their good mood just made it funnier.

Angel looked down at Buffy, “So how has your birthday gone so far?” he asked.

She smiled up at him, “Perfect….thank you so much.”

He grinned down at her, “You’re welcome.” He reached into his pocket, pulling out a small box. It looked like a box for a ring and handed it to Buffy, “Happy birthday.”

She took it and smiled, “Angel, you didn’t have to…,” she began.

“Open it,” he told her with a smile.

She looked down at it and slowly opened it, seeing a silver caladaha ring. She looked back up at him, “Its beautiful…I love it,” she told him.

He smiled, took the box and carefully removed the ring, shutting it and putting it down. He held it, and explained, “It’s a caladaha ring, the hands represent friendship, the crown represents loyalty, and the heart, well, means love. Wear it so that the heart faces you, and it means you belong to somebody.” He held his hand up slightly to show her and then placed it on her finger. He bent down towards her face, “I love you,” he told her.

She grinned back, loving when he tells her that, “I love you too.”

He leaned down a little more, capturing her lips in a sweet kiss. He wrapped his arms around her waist and she linked her arms around his neck. The kiss slowly got deeper and then more and more passionate. Angel’s hands moved up and down her back and Buffy’s hands were in his hair and on the side of his neck. Before they realized it, they ended up in the bedroom, and they collapsed on to the bed, while still kissing. When the kiss broke off, for the need of air, Angel and Buffy noticed their position and before Angel could remind her, she kissed him again, as a signal not to mention it cuz she knew. It was the most perfect birthday she could have ever imagined she only wondered what she did to deserve this.

The next morning, Buffy slowly woke up, wrapped up in Angel’s arms. She picked her head up from his chest carefully, looking at him. He was sleeping contentedly and then she remembered last night. They had made love on her birthday, for the first time and that brought a large smile to her face. She heard her phone right down the hall and she prayed it would stop. She didn’t wanna leave his arms, but she knew that if kept ringing it might be something important. She quietly disentangled herself from him, pulled on a pair of sweat pants and a tank top and walked out of the bedroom and into the living room. She grabbed her phone and turned it on, “Hello,” she answered.

“Hey B,” Faith said on the other line.

“Oh, hey Faith….what’s up? Demon trouble?”

“Not really trouble…G-Man called a research party about your dream the other night. Although, we kinda forgot what you said about the demon, like the details..”

Angel was still sound asleep when he felt that Buffy wasn’t in his arms anymore. He reached out for her in his sleep but only felt the sheets. He quickly woke up, seeing her not there and worried a little. Wakening up alone after last night wasn’t a good sign. Although, the memory of last night, made him grin happily. He heard Buffy’s voice faintly and got up, pulling on a pair of sweat pants and walked out of the bedroom, down the hall.

“So you want me to tell you what it looked like from my dream?” she asked.

“Yeah, pretty much”

“OK…It was big green…scales down its back on its…”

“Hold on B, Anya’s bitchin about something….”

Angel walked up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and pressed a few kisses on her shoulder and neck.

She smiled, turning her head to face him and moved her phone away from her mouth, “Hi ”

He smiled and kissed her quickly, “Hi ….who you talking to,” he asked curiously.

“Faith, there’s a research party on my dream from the other night and they need me to tell them the details again.”

He nodded and nuzzled her neck, sleepily.

She smiled and heard Faith come back on.

“OK…now what did it look like?” she asked.

“Big, green, scales on the sides of its face and down its back, horns and spike thingy that came outta it’s wrist,” she told her.

“OK…I’ll give it to the others….so who won the bet? Was it a disaster? Do I gotta cough up 10 bucks...or was it the opposite,” she asked curiously.

She chuckled, “The opposite….so I owe ya 10 bucks,” she told her.

“See…you shouldn’t judge my geniuesness…well, I’ll talk to ya later, B. See ya”

“Bye Faith,” she hung up her phone, putting it down and looking at Angel again.

“When do you have to leave for your dad’s?” he asked.

She glanced at the clock, “Not till this afternoon.”

“Good….,” he began and picked her up, “Cuz I wanna go back to sleep.”

She giggled, “I like that idea.”

He carried her into the bedroom, sitting her on the bed. They both crawled back under the covers and Angel laid on his side, pulling her against him, wrapping his arm around her and nuzzled his face into the crook of her neck, “I love you,” he said softly while closing his eyes.

She smiled, “I love you too,” she told him softly and closed her eyes as well.

He placed a soft kiss on her neck and they both slowly fell back to sleep, both thinking ~~I could stay like this forever~~

****11****

It had been about two months after Buffy’s birthday and neither of them could believe how perfectly everything was going. Angel and Buffy walked into her bedroom, throwing their books on the bed. After classes they had gone out with her friends. Willow was going over to see Oz tonight and Cordy had been in LA for a few days visiting a friend. That meant they had the apartment to them selves tonight, but they knew they had to develop some self control because studying wasn’t what either of them wanted to do. All they had to do was finish studying….and try not to touch each other of course. The reason why they had to study was because Angel insisted that he help her with her history for a big test she had next week. They sat down on the bed and Buffy pulled out her history stuff.

Angel looked at her, “OK, so what are you doing in history?” he asked.

Buffy thought for a moment, “Sleeping,” she told him casually.

He chuckled, “Buffy, you can’t sleep through all of your history classes, believe me, Spike tried and it got him an F,” he told her.

“Yeah….well you’d never let me fail so I don’t have to worry about it,” she said with a smirk.

He smirked slightly, “You’re right…I wouldn’t.” He took her book and notes and glanced through them. He looked at her, “How about this….if you get an answer right, you get a kiss, and if you get an A on the test, you can have whatever you want,” he told her.

She grinned, “OK….deal.” She crawled onto his lap and they began to study. About a half-hour later, the kisses started to get longer and deeper. When Angel finally pulled away from the last one, he pushed the book to the side and kissed her again, mumbling against her lips, “We can study later….”

She giggled slightly and returned the kiss.

Moments later, Buffy was lying on her back and Angel was hovering over her. Her left leg was bent up and against his thigh, which his hand was on and they were in a heated make out session. Her one hand was through his hair and his other hand was on the side of her stomach. Just as Angel’s hand was about to explore under Buffy’s shirt, the phone rang. They sighed and Buffy reached over and grabbed the phone, “Hello,” she answered.

“Hey Buffy,” Cordelia said over the other end.

“Hey Cor,” she greeted her, just as Angel began kissing her neck again.

“Did anything come in the mail for me,” she asked hopefully.

“I don’t think so,” she told her and pushed Angel away half-heartedly. She didn’t want him to stop but then, she was on the phone.

He smirked to himself and continued on her neck and across her collarbone.

A small, quiet moan escaped her mouth and Cordy definitely heard it.

“You OK Buff?” she asked curiously.

“Uh..yeah..fine,” she said with great difficulty.

Cordy laughed quietly, “I’ll let Angel continue his sucking,” she told her friend.

Buffy was surprised by that, “That obvious?” she asked.

She chuckled again, “The noises gave it away and they fact that you’re completely distracted,” she told her.

Buffy smiled, both at what Cordy said and what Angel was doing to her neck.

“OK, well I’ll see ya later Buff….bye”

“Bye Cor,” she finished and hung up. She looked at Angel who was busy trailing kisses up to her lips and bent down a little, “You were noisy…Cordy heard you.”

He smirked and leaned down and kissed her again, mumbling against her lips, “My bad…”

Several hours later, they were both fast asleep. Buffy was sleeping on her side and Angel’s chest was against her back and his arms were wrapped around her.

Angel woke up slowly, picking his head up and looking down at his lover. He smiled, loving the feeling of waking up with her in his arms. He watched her for a few minutes and bent his head down, softly kissing her back, neck, and the back of her shoulder.

She smiled and then opened her eyes slowly. She turned her head up, looking at him, “Hi ”

He smiled back, “Hi baby….sleep good?”

She turned around in his arms, now facing him, “Yeah I did….you?”

He nodded, “Yeah, but I always sleep better when your around. Although….I always sleep less when you’re around as well ,” he said with a playful smirk.

“Is that a complaint,” she challenged playfully.

“Of course not,” he told her with an innocent look.

She chuckled and shook her head slightly.

He leaned in and kissed her quickly, good morning.

She kissed him back quickly and pouted slightly, “Is that all I get?” she asked.

He grinned, pulling her closer and kissing her deeply.

She quickly returned the kiss and deepened it.

A moment later, Buffy was under Angel, the kiss growing more passionate, and he pulled the comforter over their heads, getting a small giggle out of Buffy. They continued the kiss and started off where they ended last night.

Several hours later, Angel was lying on his back, with Buffy’s head on his chest, being both awake. They were wrapped up in each other’s arms and he bent down, kissing her forehead softly.

She smiled, “Angel…,” she began.

“Hmm?” he mumbled comfortably.

“Remember when you asked me if my dad knew about you and then I said if he did, you might not be alive?” she asked.

He looked down at her, “Yeah, and the fact that he didn’t, relived me…..what did you do?” he asked, slightly nervous.

“I didn’t actually * do* something…..he stopped by here on his way to a business thing and he saw the picture that’s next to the couch…,” she said, meaning the one from her party, where she was sitting on his lap and they were lip locked.

“I guess you can’t really make up an excuse for that picture,” he told her.

“Well I tried but he grilled me a little and said he wanted to meet you…” she began and mumbled, “…today…”

His mouth dropped, remembering what Xander told him about Buffy’s dad and grilling her boyfriends. “Buffy…that isn’t fair…that’s cruel,” he whimpered.

She thought he always looks cute when he whimpered and leaned up, kissing him quickly. “I know, I’m sorry, but every time I was going to tell you I got kinda…. distracted.

“That’s not my fault,” he defended himself.

She arched a brow.

“OK OK…maybe it was my fault a few times but….your fathers gonna kill me!,” he exclaimed.

She chuckled slightly and kissed him quickly again, “Don’t worry about it, my mom put in some good words for you.”

He kissed her back quickly and sighed, “Well what’s the plan?” he asked.

“Well, he wants us to come up to LA and stay with him for the weekend,” she told him.

He sighed, “OK…but if I don’t come back alive…I’m not gonna be a happy ghost,” he said with a playful smirk.

She giggled, “Thank you,” she leaned up and kissed him softly.

Around 1:00, Buffy and Angel were only minutes away from Buffy’s father’s house. Buffy noticed how nervous he looked and sympathized for him. She knew how bad her father could get at grilling and especially because she’s been dating Angel for about a year and didn’t tell him. They pulled up in front of a large, white house moments later.

Angel got out of the car, glancing up at the house, ~~I guess her parents had a lot of money before they divorced~~, he thought.

Buffy grabbed her bag from the back and went to open her door, but Angel did it for her. She smiled, handed him his and got out.

He took his bag, shutting the door behind her and took her bag as well.

They walked up to the double doors and she stopped, looking up at him, “Don’t look so nervous,” she told him.

He looked down at her, her look causing him to smile, “I’ll try not to,” he promised.

She smiled and leaned up, close to his lips, “I love you,” she told him softly and kissed him.

“I love you too,” she said against her lips and returned the kiss.

They wrapped their arms around each other, it becoming a natural habit, and they stood there, lost in their kiss.

They were so wrapped up in each other, they hadn’t noticed the door open.

“I thought making out on your fathers doorstep was to end a date….or has it changed since my dating years,” someone asked.

As soon as they heard it, they pulled away and slightly jumped away from each other, both looking at Buffy’s father. He had an amused smile on his face and that made both Buffy and Angel relax. They could only hope this meant he was in a good mood, and not just trying to fool Angel….because that’s what Buffy would do to her mother’s boyfriends, and that never went well.

Buffy was the first one to speak, “Nope…it’s used for everything now.”

Hank shook his head slightly and stepped aside to let them in, shutting the door behind Angel.

Buffy leaned up and kissed her father’s cheek, “Hi Dad,” she greeted him with a smile.

“Hi sweetheart,” he greeted her back and looked at Angel.

Buffy looked at Angel and then her father, “Dad, this is Angel Liam, Angel, this is my dad.”

Hank extended his hand and Angel shook it, “It’s nice to *finally * meet you Angel,” he stressed on ‘finally’, while looking at Buffy.

She just gave him an innocent smile.

Angel kept from chuckling, “You too”

Hank knew Angel was nervous and he thought of that as a good sign.

They all sat in the living room and talked. Hank decided it was time to find out about this man.

“Buffy told me you are graduating next month…do you still plan on working at the galley?” he asked.

Angel looked at him, “Yes, I want to get my masters in art history…so I’ll still be working there.”

He nodded, glad to see he had a plan for his future and not just playing it by ear. He looked at Buffy, “I find it hard to believe that you are dating your complete opposite,” he told her.

Buffy chuckled, “Yeah I know…and I really gotta keep him away from Giles and mom….the influence they have over him….he may turn into a bigger loser then he already is,” she joked.

Angel shot her a playful glare a ‘I’ll get you back for that later’ kinda look.

She smiled innocently, which made Angel smirk. He loved her smile.

Hank chuckled quietly, seeing it and looked at Angel. “Yes, well, from what Buffy has said about you, you’re not as…to quote her…’culturally retarded’ as everyone else at the gallery…or so she claims.

Angel chuckled, “She calls me that all the time,” he told him.

Hank shook his head slightly, “I’ve known her for two0 years and throughout them, you think you finally understand her, but you realize that that you’re right back at square 1. If you can do it, then you’re lucky.”

Angel smiled slightly, “I like trying to figure her out…it never gets boring. I already know that I’m lucky, and that’s why I love her.,” he told him truthfully.

A large, bright grin appeared on Buffy’s face from what he said. The feeling it gave her was indescribable.

Hank didn’t miss Buffy’s reaction to what he said, and he also was very impressed by that. He knew every time he saw her before, she was happy and her moods were quite bubbly. Although, there were points when she’d brood, all until she was on the phone. He never knew what was going on with her, but today, he realized how happy and in love she was and it was Angel who did that to her. He wouldn’t deny him Buffy’s heart, he actually welcomed it. He knew he wouldn’t have to worry about Angel, and he hoped this would be her last boyfriend. That didn’t mean he couldn’t threaten him before he left…what kinda father would he be if he didn’t follow tradition. They talked for about another hour and then Hank had a business party he had no choice but to attend, and he told Buffy before that they should come with him. “Buffy, why don’t you show Angel where one of the guest rooms are, and you guys can start to get ready.”

“OK,” she stood up, looking down at Angel, “Lets go old man,” she teased.

He stood up, looking down at her, “I’ll get my revenge soon”

She chuckled, grabbing his hand and led him upstairs.

When they reached one of the guest rooms, they walked in and Angel looked down at her. “This isn’t fair that I have to sleep in another room,” he said quietly.

“Well I could tell my dad why you shouldn’t sleep in a different room….but then…he might hang you from the tree out back,” she answered quietly.

“Never mind,” he said with a small smile.

Around 6:00, Hank and Angel were waiting downstairs for Buffy to finish getting ready. Any time they had to get dressed up, it just took Buffy longer to get ready.

Hank looked at Angel who was sitting on the couch across from him, “I’ve been meaning to speak to you, without Buffy here,” he began.

There were two thoughts going through his head, ~~Either he just wants to threaten me, or he wants to tell me never to see his daughter again….I’m dead~~ “What about?” he asked.

“I like you…and I wasn’t expecting you to be dating my daughter….but I’m glad you are. I never liked any of her other boyfriends, and to some extent, I don’t think she did either. But anyway, to get to the point….if you hurt her I’ll kill you,” he stated.

Angel took a breath, looking at him, “Mr. Summers…I would never hurt Buffy….I’d sooner kill myself then do anything to cause her pain. I love her and, she’s the only person I ever have loved, and ever will. I just wanna make her happy…..God knows it doesn’t take much for her to make me happy.

Hank smiled from that, “Well I’m glad that was your answer,” he told him.

Angel sighed in relief, he was more relaxed now. He was glad Hank didn’t hate him, but accepted him. Things were good.

“Is there blood shed from the small amount of time I have left you two boys alone,” a voice came from the top of the stairs.

Both men turned their head to the stairs and Angel stood up, gaping slightly at his love. Angel kept impressing Hank, but to Angel, these things weren’t to impress him, it just the kind of guy he was.

Buffy was standing at the top of the steps, wearing a dress that was a slivery lavender color. It tied around the back of her neck and scooped in front of her chest, and the back had crisscross straps. Her hair was pulled up in a french twist with curls cascading from it and around her face. Her simple but elegant diamond necklace and earrings of her mothers, was a perfect finishing touch. She smiled at the look on Angle’s face and walked down the steps.

Angel met her at the bottom of the steps, trying to find his voice, “Wow,” was all that came out. When he finally found it, he looked down at her and said softly, “You look amazing.”

She grinned, “Thank you.” She thought to herself, ~~He looks really good in a tux….~~

He smiled and took her hand, leading her outside after Hank. He had to remind himself not to let his mind wander tonight, because he couldn’t do anything with her tonight.

They had been at the party for about an hour and a half, Hank was talking to some of his business partners while Buffy and Angel were on the dace floor. His hand was on the side of her stomach and hers on his shoulder while their other hands were interlocked.

Buffy looked up at him, “So did my dad threaten you while you two were waiting for me?” she asked curiously.

He looked down at her, with a smirk, “Yeah, he did….it went by pretty smoothly,” he told her.

She smiled, “Good…cuz that’s when he’d tell you if he hated you.”

“Well I’m glad he doesn’t….and you seem to know pretty well how this goes…bring home alotta boyfriends?” he asked with a smirk.

She smirked, “Of course, the social butterfly that I am….,” she teased him.

After the song was over, they walked to the glass doors that led to the garden, both of them deciding the party was getting boring.

Angel looked down at her once they sat on a bench, “Did your father always drag you to these things?”

She looked up at him, “Yeah….I pretty much came against my own will….but I kept my self busy with finding guys to make out with…,” she said with a smirk.

He chuckled, “Planning on following through it tonight? he asked playfully.

She smirked, “Yeah….though, I think I picked a good one this time.”

He leaned down slightly, “Oh really?”

“Yeah, ” she said simply.

“Hmm…well what does this guy look like?” he asked.

She smirked, “He’s tall, dark and handsome….know anyone that fits the description?” she asked playfully.

He looked as though he had to give it thought, “Yeah…I may know someone like that….,” he told her and leaned down closer to her lips.

She smiled, “Hope he’s a good kisser,” she said teasingly.

He smirked and leaned down, kissing her deeply.

About 45 minutes later, Hank walked out and saw the two lovers caught up in a passionate kiss, which they seemed right at home. ~~Oh I can bet they’ve been out here doing that for at least a half-hour~~, he thought to himself. He looked at them again, clearing his throat, “Is this what I’ll find you two doing on a daily basis?” he commented.

They both pulled away, looking at Hank and both smirked. “Most likely,” Buffy said simply with a smile.

She and Angel stood up and followed Hank towards the door to get going. Just then, Angel whispered to her, “So was he a good kisser?” he asked with a playful grin.

She grinned back, “Definitely.”

It was about 10:00 and Angel was in the guest room, his back leaning against the head board and just starting a book He had to do something to get his mind off his beautiful girlfriend who he wasn’t allowed to sleep next to tonight.

Buffy was in her own room, bored out of her mind. There was nothing on tv and she wasn’t one to read. She glanced at the door and stood up, walking towards it. She opened it, shutting the door behind her and listening carefully. She heard her father’s bedroom door shut from the next floor up and she smiled to herself and walked down the hall and to the room where Angel was staying. She didn’t hear anything from inside and saw the light on. ~~He’s probably buried in one of his stupid books~~, she thought, but she had to admit, she found it cute. She opened the door silently, and saw that she had guessed right. She shut the door behind her and Angel had yet to notice. She walked up beside the bed, “Good book?” she asked.

Hearing her surprised him and he looked at her, “Yeah….but I thought you’d be asleep.”

“Nope,” she stated and crawled onto the bed and sat next to him, “Whattcha reading?” she asked curiously.

He turned the book slightly so she could read the title. It was the Anne Rice book, that was made into the “Interview With a Vampire” movie.

She told him before that he didn’t need to read novels about vampires, he could just take one of Giles’ Watchers Diaries. “Ya know, they made that into a movie, with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise,” she told him.

He chuckled, “I know, but I wanted to read it. You liked the move, want me to read it to you?” he asked.

She smiled, liking that idea, “OK.” She curled up next to him and he wrapped his arm around her. She laid her head against his chest and he began to read to her. She sometimes commented on how something about the author’s view wasn’t true or asked Angel what something meant. Sometimes during the boring parts, she just listened to Angel’s soft, but deep, velvety voice. ~~I could do this more often~~, she thought to herself.

About an hour into the book, Angel looked down and saw his love, fast asleep. He grinned, and decided that it didn’t really matter if her father found them asleep next to each other. He moved slightly, laying her down and pulling the covers over her. He turned off the light, pulling her into his embrace and slowly fell asleep, thinking, ~~God, I love her so much~~

Angel was standing in front of his mirror, trying to straiten his tie. In only a few hours, he and his friends would graduate from U.C. Sunnydale. He was very excited and slightly nervous about it. After the ceremony, there was a joint party for Doyle, Gunn, Spike and he at his parent’s house. It was just a small one, but after the party, was what he was looking forward to. Buffy’s father had a beach house and she had asked him if they could use it graduation weekend, even though she wasn’t the one graduating. The house was huge, and so they decided that the whole gang should go. Anya, Xander, Willow, Oz, Buffy, Angel, Doyle, Spike, Cordy and Faith would all be staying the weekend. This would be a great time to spend a weekend with his friends and the most important person coming, Buffy. ~~Buffy…~~, he began thinking, ~~God, I don't think I could ever stop thinking about that girl~~, he thought with a smile.

A few hours later, Buffy walked into the building where the ceremony was being held. Just as she was about to walk to where the seats were, someone pulled her into a hallway. Just as she was going to say something, the person behind her whispered, “Hi love”. She smiled, turned around, and looked up at a smiling Angel.

“Hey,” she answered back, with a smile.

He leaned down and kissed her quickly.

She kissed him back quickly and then asked, “Ready to graduate?”

“I think so,” he answered.

“Ya know, I was tempted to bring my crossbow with me, but Cordy noted that it wouldn’t match my outfit.”

He chuckled, “Don’t worry, there’s not gonna be any evil things showing up….or I don't think there will be.”

“I hope not.”

“Me too, I don’t want to have to explain to the people in my family who haven’t met you, why my girlfriend is trying to burn, yet another one or her schools down,” he said with a smirk.

She smiled innocently, “I’ll be good.”

He smiled and heard one of the teachers tell the students to get back stage. He kissed her quickly, “I’ll see you after..”

She kissed him back quickly, “OK,” she told him while Spike pulled him by the shoulders to follow. She smirked and walked to her seat.

Once everyone sat down, and waited for the ceremony to start, Xander leaned over, looking at the others. “OK guys, we all remember last time we attended a graduation, we should all keep an eye out for any guest speakers or, if a giant snake slithers down the aisle….OK team?” he said with an adult voice.

The others looked at him strangely and Cordy took the honors of shoving him into his seat, “Thanks, backseat slayer, now sit down and try not to make a fool of yourself.”

“Yeah well, if a snake does come down the isle, it will eat you first since your on the end, but then, with that perfume, it might throw you back up,” he argued.

She glared at him, “One of these days I’m going to kill you Xander Harris…..how does Anya date you??”

About an hour into the ceremony, everyone was listening to the dean giving a speech. Well….all but Anya, who’s attention was focused on trying to wake up Xander. ~~So much for his speech about staying alert~~, she thought.

A half-hour later, they began calling the students up for their diplomas. Buffy glanced over at Angel and smirked to herself. Just then, the dean spoke again, “Angelus Liam,” he announced.

Angel got up, trying not to laugh at the look Spike gave him from a few rows back. He walked up onto the stage, shook hands with the dean and took his diploma. He heard clapping and cheering, and the distinctive hooting from Gunn, Doyle and Spike. He walked back, flashing Buffy a bright smile.

After the ceremony, pictures and talking to his friends and family, they finally arrived at his parent’s house. He noticed the other cars and figured most of the people were already there,

“OK, I don’t understand how we got here like last with speed racer at the wheel,” Doyle commented when the car came to a stop.

Gunn and Angel both chuckled while getting out.

Spike glared at his short Irish friend, “Ya know what, you are turning into the other two wankers. I am a good driver and you should shut your bloody trap or I’ll close it,” he threatened while getting out. His threat made the other 3 burst out laughing. “What?” he asked while looking at them.

Angel walked up to the house, seeing his beloved perched on the rail of the porch, waiting for him. He smiled and walked up the steps and up behind her.

She turned herself around, looking down at him with a smile, “Hi again,” she said happily.

“Hi,” he said, leaned up and kissed her softly, while wrapping his arms around her.

She returned the kiss and put her hand on the side of his neck. Just then, Spike pulled Angel back, causing her to loose her balance.

“Quit doing that,” Angel said while looking at him.

“Lets go Peaches,” he said while walking inside.

Angel had tightened his hold around Buffy so she wouldn’t fall and then placed her on her feet. “We can finish that later,” he said with a smirk, too her hand and led her inside.

It was around 8:00 that night, and three cars had pulled up at the beach house. Cordy, Faith, Willow and Oz were in Oz’s van, Spike, Doyle and Gunn were in Spikes car, and Buffy and Xander and Anya were in Angel’s. They stopped the cars and each of them got out. After grabbing their bags, Buffy walked up to the door and unlocked it, opening the door and walking inside. She turned on the lights and everyone followed. They all decided that the beach would be first thing tomorrow and tonight, would just be hanging out, watching movies. The rooms were paired off to Willow and Oz, Faith and Cordy, Xander and Anya, Buffy and Angel, Doyle, Gunn and Spike. The three boys had to share a room, but one of them would have to sleep on the couch. After they were all settled in, they all met in the living room.

“OK, first priority….food!,” Xander stated excitedly. God only knew why that boy got so excited over food.

“Two of us should go to a grocery store and get some stuff.

Right after the last syllable came out of Willow’s mouth, Xander raised his hand, “I’ll go,” he said quickly.

Buffy looked at him and then the others, “OK, well, Xander doesn’t know what ‘real’ food is, cuz if we gave him the money, he’d come back with twinkies and mountain dew,” she began. “So who wants to play the adult, cuz we know Xander can’t go alone.”

Oz spoke up, “I’ll go with him and we’ll stop and get a few movies.”

They all agreed, while Xander and Oz set out for their shopping trip.

Once they came back, they all settled in the living room, with food drinks and candy placed around them. Buffy and Angel just walked up stairs from their bedroom. They chose the downstairs one, obviously for more privacy. Spike looked at them, knowing they were probably smooching down there and they knew it got on his nerves. Well, any sort of PDA from them got on his nerves. He wasn’t Mr. Romantic and he knew he was bitter because he lacked a girlfriend. But it was fun to tease him with them.

Faith looked at them, “Just for the love of god, sit on opposite ends of the couch tonight,” she told them, not wanting to see them making out.

Buffy smirked at Angel, and he grinned evilly.

Spike noticed the grin and looked at looked at Angel, “See… now you’re going to have to sit away from her,” he told him, not knowing what his smirk meant.

Buffy leaned up and whispered to him, curiously, “What are you planning on doing?”

Angel smirked and whispered, “I plan on making him squirm,” he told her.

She grinned, knowing what that meant.

He grinned back and kissed her cheek.

Just then Spike grabbed Angel by the arm, shoving him in to the chair, and then grabs Buffy’s arm and pushes her next to Willow and looks at both of them, “Stay” he said simply and sat down,

Everyone chuckled quietly and then Xander popped in the movie, turned off the lights and sat down.

A few minutes later, everyone was fully engrossed in the movie and Spike was far from noticing anything.

Buffy and Angel looked at each other, already seen the movie plenty of times and Angel smirked at her, giving her a ‘come here’ look.

She silently got up, moving over to where Angel was and placed herself sideways on his lap, “Trying to get me in trouble?” she whispered teasingly.

Angel smirked, “Maybe,” he whispered, while wrapping his arms around her.

She smirked, leaned down and kissed him quickly.

He kissed her back quickly and then whimpered quietly when she pulled away.

She heard him whimper, which always meant he wanted her to continue and leaned down again, kissing him deeply.

Oz looked over at them and smiled to himself.

Willow had seen their little display and whispered to Oz, “They have major smoochies today.”

He smirked at her, “Yeah they do…just wait till Spike sees it,” he answered ad then looked back at the movie.

They had been lip locked for about a good 10 minutes, when Spike glanced to the side and saw them. “Hey! Stop!,” he yelled at them.

They both heard him and pulled away. Angel mumbled “Grr,” to himself, enjoying what he and Buffy were doing.

Buffy looked at Spike, giving him an innocent look, “What?”

“I don’t want to see you two trying to swallow each others faces!,” he exclaimed.

“You were watching the movie,” she argued.

He glared at her slightly, “Well I still saw you two and now I’m going to have nightmares,” he stated.

Buffy glared back at him, “Good,” she said simply and then turned her head back to Angel, and kissed him quickly just to make Spike mad.

He returned the kiss and saw Spike walk over, while everyone started to chuckle.

Spike pulled Buffy up, sitting her down on the couch, where he originally put her.

“Hey…I was comfortable there!,” she exclaimed.

He shrugged, “Yeah, well I wasn’t comfortable watching you two.”

She rolled her eyes at him, “Then watch the movie.”

“I can’t when I know what you two are doing,” he stated and sat back down.

As soon as he turned the movie on again and got settled, Buffy wasted no time in moving back into Angel’s lap. She smiled down at him and whispered, “Now…where were we?”

He grinned and leaned up, “I think we were right here…,” he whispered and kissed her softly.

They started to get more into their kisses and tried to stay as quiet as possible. Their hands moved around slightly and Angel slowly pulled away from one of their kisses. He moved his head and started to kiss her neck.

Xander glanced over at them and whispered to Anya, who was sitting next to him. “I bet she’ll be trying to hide a hickey by morning.”

She tried not to laugh and whispered back, “Yeah, I know, they are way to perfect for each other,” she stated.

“Yeah, and they can’t seem to get enough of each other…those crazy kids,” he whispered with a smirk.

She chuckled quietly and went back to the movie.

Angel finally pulled away for air and then kissed her quickly. He smiled and whispered, “I love you.”

She grinned and whispered back, “I love you too,” she leaned down and kissed him softly.

Faith looked at them and mumbled, “Ugh….I’m gonna be sick.”

Willow threw a piece of popcorn at Faith’s head, “Shut up.”

She caught it and threw it back at her,” You’re siding with the nymphos?” she asked.

Willow nodded slightly and threw another piece at her, “There happy...leave them alone,” she stated.

Faith threw it back at her and then went back to watching the movie.

About two0 minutes later, the movie ended and Spike looked at them, seeing them still at it. “Bloody hell! Don’t you two need to come up for air!,” he yelled at Buffy and Angel while turning on the lights

When the lights came on, they all realized that Buffy and Angel weren’t making out, but just staring into each other’s eyes.

“I so don't get them,” Cordy stated, knowing no one else did that.

Anya looked at them, “How can they do that and not get bored?” she asked.

“That’s what happens when you’re madly in love,” Doyle answered.

“How many times a week do you think they have sex?” Xander blurted out.

Willow, Anya and Cordy all smacked him over the head, “Xander!,” they said loudly.

He rubbed his head with one hand and mumbled, “Ow.....what? It’s a scientific question.”

“You so need to get your head outta the gutter,” Cordy stated.

Xander spoke up again, “It would be fun if we could make them mad at each other,” he said with an evil grin.

All other heads turned to him, “NO!” they all said in unison, causing Xander to jump slightly. He was the only one who found people’s arguments amusing. Although, Buffy and Angel never fought with each other

Gunn glanced at them, “I’m surprised they’re not making out yet”

“Are they OK?” Oz wondered.

“Maybe they’re just enjoying the…not doing anything,” Willow added.

Spike got up and walked over to them, leaning down and yelled in Buffy’s ear, “Malls on fire!”

Buffy and Angel both jumped slightly and the others chuckled.

Willow looked at Spike, “She’s not Cordy,” she told him, meaning Cordy would really care if that happened.

Xander chuckled, “We’re all thankful for that,” she stated and then go hit on the arm by Cordy.

Buffy looked at him, “What?”

“Do you know how long you’ve been staring at each other for?” Spike asked.

`”Not really,” she answered carelessly.

“Lets try an hour...if you’re going to get all hot and bothered you can just go to your room.”

They all chuckled and Buffy and Angel went downstairs to their room, a few min later. They knew they could be quiet and it didn’t take them long to get right back to where they started.

***B***

Around noon, everyone was walking to the spot Xander chose on the beach. They all laid their towels down and started peeling off their clothing that was over their bathing suites. Willow had on a simple, blue, one piece, and Anya had on a purple one. Cordy had on a light pink bikini, which Doyle tried very hard not to stare at her in it. Faith removed her top, showing a blood red bikini, which made Spike’s mouth drop. He liked the girl and thought to himself, ~~oh man….what a hottie! I wonder if Buffy can do something for me…..~~ Buffy took off her tank top as well, showing a black bikini. Angel’s eyes were glued on his lover’s body and he tried not to let his mind wonder. ~~Down Angel….you’re in public, remember~~, his brain reminded him.

Everyone went straight into the ocean, but the girls stopped at the water's edge, feeling how cold it was. Angel had been standing behind Buffy the whole time, and now he picked her up, carrying her into the water.

She gasped and then moments later, she went crashing into the water. Angel had just thrown her in when they were out deep enough and she popped up quickly, giving him a playful glare. While everyone else was off on their own, Buffy and Angel swam out more, now by themselves and Buffy was in his arms. They just stayed out their, enjoying each other, talking and of course, kissing.

A while later, they all got out to get some lunch and then the girls laid on their towels, getting a tan. While they were doing that, the guys played volleyball. Buffy kept her eyes open, with her sunglasses on, watching them play. Well….mainly, she was just watching Angel. ~~Who wouldn’t wanna watch the most gorgeous guy with out a shirt and still wet~~, she thought to herself with a smirk.

After the game, they all went back into the water and had chicken fights. Of course, Buffy and Faith won. The others looked at Buffy and Faith, seeing that the only fair fight would be between them.

Buffy got on Angel’s shoulders and Spike saw Faith without a partner. He quickly stood next to her, “Need a partner?” he asked with a smile.

She smiled back slightly, she too, liking Spike, “Yeah, ” she answered.

When both teams were set, the fight began and from below, Buffy was winning. It went longer then the others expected it, and just then, Faith shoved Buffy, hard and she started to lose her balance. Angel kept his footing and straitened her out. They smiled at each other and then Buffy and Faith started the fight again. Five minutes later, Faith went crashing into the water and Buffy had a grin on her face.

About an hour later, Buffy and Angel were by themselves, once again, and kissing. Once the kiss ended, Angel felt her shiver and looked down at her, “Cold?” he asked.

She nodded slightly, “Kinda”.

He took her hand, leading her to shore and walked out of the water. They walked up to where their towels were and Angel grabbed one, wrapping it around Buffy.

She smiled at him, “Thanks.”

He smiled back and wrapped one around himself. He sat down on the towel and pulled her down and into his lap, wrapping his arms around her waist.

She curled up slightly and leaned her head against his chest and put her hands over his. “I love you,” she said softly.

He smiled down at her, kissed the top of her head, “I love you too,” he said softly. Angel glanced down at her and smiled to himself, thinking, ~~God, what did I ever do to deserve her~~, he wondered.

She looked down at his hands and started playing with his caladaha ring a little.

A few moments later, he leaned down towards her lips and gave her a soft, sweet kiss, which was full of love.

She kissed him back the same way, thinking to herself ~~I am so lucky to have him….~~
